Experienced Medical Director and Emergency Physician Damon Whitfield
Dr. Damon Whitfield joined Liberty Osteopathic Center as the facility’s medical director in 2000. He served in the same role at Mt. Carmel Occupational Health in Columbus between 2004 and 2006. Dr. Damon Whitfield balances his responsibility as medical director with his position on the board of the non-profit organization Osteopathic Education Services. He has spent time on the board of the American Osteopathic Association of Prolotherapy Regenerative Medicine, where he also spent a term as the organization’s president.
Dr. Whitfield began his career as an attending physician at Mason Urgent Care (part of the Sparrow Health System) in 1998. He has served as an emergency medicine physician at numerous facilities, including Mt. Carmel East and West Hospitals and Lima Memorial Hospital.
In preparation for his career, he earned his doctor of osteopathic medicine and his undergraduate degree in economics from Michigan State University (MSU). He also holds a master of public health in epidemiology from Harvard. He completed his postdoctoral training as an emergency medicine resident at MSU, during which time he held the role of chief resident for emergency medicine.
